I have struggled with my weight ever since my first pregnancy 28 years ago. I have lost weight and gained it back a few times which led to even more weight gain and eventually high blood pressure that required me to take medication. At 100 lbs. overweight I was exhausted all of the time and suffered from chronic fatigue. I would have ended up on disability if I had not been able to cut back to part time and change to a job that was less physically demanding. My knees would hurt when I went up and down stairs and I would collapse after work.
About a year and a half ago I finally decided I had to do something but I didn’t know what to do. I started juicing and lost about 40 pounds. Then I switched to a low carb, high fat diet. I was able to lose about 10 more pounds. Although I was making progress, I was often frustrated with the consistency of my results.
About half way into my health journey, a colleague and physical therapist friend of mine, introduced me to the health coaching program he was coaching others through and I saw how it could help me to adopt the long term health habits I needed to not only lose my remaining excess weight but also optimize my health for the rest of my life! My friend coached and encouraged me.
Since I have been following the program, I have seen more consistent results and have reached my goal of losing 100 pounds. Just as importantly as the results I have seen, I now feel I have the support and tools I need to keep the weight off forever. I am never going back!
When people see me they can’t help but tell me how good I look, which is fun but what is more exciting to me is how I feel physically and emotionally. That has changed much more dramatically than how I look on the outside. I feel amazing! I have so much energy. I don’t need to rest anymore. I can run up and down the stairs with little effort. I am off my medication and I feel like my body is functioning the way it was supposed to. I can do anything I want to do and I now have more confidence to do it.
I am so thrilled with how great I feel that I could not keep it to myself and when I was looking for ways to help others, my coach invited me to become a certified health coach with him. So that is what I am doing. I am currently coaching clients and they have become an inspiration to me to continue my journey.
